The Prince’s Countryside Fund backs Red Ruby Devon beef

The Prince’s Countryside Fund, established in 2010 by HRH The Prince of Wales, has confirmed its support by awarding a grant to the Devon Cattle Breeders’ Society’s campaign to raise awareness of Red Ruby Devon beef.  Catherine Broomfield of the Devon Cattle Breeders’ Society said “this campaign will increase consumers’ awareness of the wonderful eating quality of this great British native breed, so strongly associated with the West Country. The campaign will enable us to stimulate demand for Red Ruby Devon beef nationally and in so doing benefit hundreds of south west family farms who keep pedigree Red Ruby Devon herds as well as the local butchers, independent retail outlets they supply and the independent local abattoirs who play such an important part in our local supply chains.

Claire Saunders, director, The Prince’s Countryside Fund said, “We are committed to supporting the long-term viability and resilience of the family farm and are proud to be supporting Devon Cattle Breeders’ Society’s campaign to raise awareness of and promote Red Ruby Devon beef.”
